Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds round steak, 1-inch thickness

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2-4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 sprigs rosemary

  • 4 sprigs thyme

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil over medium heat.

  2. Stir in salt, black pepper, mustard powder, minced garlic, rosemary, and thyme. Allow the herbs to infuse the mixture, simmering on low heat. Once fragrant, remove from heat and let it cool.

  3. Place the round steak in a shallow dish and pour the cooled butter mixture over it, ensuring the steak is evenly coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 3 to 12 hours, ideally overnight.

  4. Preheat the grill to high heat.

  5. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard any excess marinade.

  6. Place the steak on the hot grill and sear each side to achieve desired color and grill marks, aiming for a medium-rare to medium doneness.

  7. Once cooked to your preference, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing thin on a bias to achieve the perfect tender texture you want when eating Top Round.

  8. Serve the grilled steak with your choice of grilled vegetables or preferred side dishes.
